Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is reportedly set to return to acting, with sources indicating she and her family are moving back to the United Kingdom. The report from Australian outlet news.com.au states Meghan has received an offer for a role in an upcoming UK production, though specific details about the project remain undisclosed.
A source close to Meghan and Prince Harry confirmed the accuracy of the report to ABC News. Neither the Duke nor the Duchess of Sussex have publicly commented on the acting offer or the reported relocation. This potential move comes six years after the couple stepped back from their senior royal duties and relocated to the United States.
Since 2020, the Sussexes have resided in California. Prior to her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan, 45, had an established acting career in the U.S. and Canada. She was a regular on the USA Network legal drama “Suits,” playing paralegal Rachel Zane for seven seasons, before leaving the profession upon her marriage.
The series “Suits” experienced a surge in popularity in 2023 after becoming available for streaming on Netflix. Several of Meghan's “Suits” co-stars, including Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Abigail Spencer, Gina Torres, and Rick Hoffman, were in attendance at her and Prince Harry's wedding in Windsor, England.
In a 2022 interview with Variety, Meghan expressed her belief that she was “done” with acting, stating, "I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not." Following their departure from royal life, the couple entered into a production agreement with Netflix, which resulted in the 2022 docuseries "Harry & Meghan" and two seasons of "With Love, Meghan," a lifestyle and cooking series hosted by Meghan.
Plans for the couple to resume any senior royal roles upon their return to the U.K. have not been announced. A source familiar with the matter told ABC News that King Charles III has made it clear there are no intentions to alter Prince Harry and Meghan's status as private individuals and non-working royals, consistent with their agreement over the past several years.
