Maya Jama is reportedly in discussions with ITV about taking over hosting duties for The Voice UK, potentially succeeding Emma Willis. The television personality has recently seen a surge of interest from networks on both sides of the Atlantic, following a trip to the United States to promote her role in Guy Ritchie's upcoming crime comedy, 'The Gentlemen.'
ITV is said to have extended an offer for Jama to host the popular singing competition. However, her decision is pending due to other existing commitments and a range of new opportunities being evaluated. A source indicated that Jama has received numerous approaches from various networks in the UK and the US.
Discussions between The Voice producers and Jama did take place, but a source told The Sun that the conversations did not progress immediately due to her schedule. Jama and her management are reportedly reviewing all available options.
Jama's potential move to The Voice UK comes as fellow presenters Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, known for the band McFly, are reported to have departed the show. Fletcher and Jones cited significant commitments, including ongoing work in New York and studio recording sessions for a new McFly album, as reasons for their unavailability for a full series.
The 14th season of The Voice UK has experienced delays, with initial auditions filmed in 2024. A scheduling conflict emerged as ITV faced the possibility of host Emma Willis presenting both The Voice UK and the upcoming season of 'Strictly Come Dancing' on rival networks, following her appointment to host the latter after the departures of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
Jama's recent activities include hosting 'Love Island UK' and filming 'Celebrity Traitors UK,' alongside her acting debut in 'The Gentlemen.'
Separately, ITV issued an apology to an independent baker after receiving a request for free food from The Voice production team for celebrity guests. A spokesperson for Lifted Entertainment, owned by ITV Studios, stated that immediate steps have been taken to prevent such requests in the future.
