The first season of Apple TV+'s dark comedic thriller 'Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed' concluded with its tenth episode, "Queens," resolving Paula's custody battle for Hazel and a series of criminal entanglements, only to end on a new, ominous cliffhanger.

Throughout the season, Paula (Tatiana Maslany) worked to uncover a criminal organization responsible for her troubles. She identified Dennis (Murray Bartlett) as a middleman and his employer, Cecilia Vanderwalle (Nina Arianda), Senior Vice President of The Souter Group, a global risk advisement firm. Paula confronted Cecilia at a corporate retreat, leveraging information about Cecilia bribing an admissions officer to get her son, Blake, into Yale. Paula threatened to expose this, leading Cecilia to agree to help exonerate Paula in exchange for her silence.

Unraveling the Criminal Conspiracy

Detective Baxter (Jon Michael Hill) was shot by Brian's (Adam Huber) hitwoman, Jennifer (Tala Ashe), but survived. Dennis, who Paula had previously shot, was revealed to be alive and being cared for by The Souter Group. However, Dennis was ultimately pushed from a building to his death, framed as a suicide with a fabricated confession taking responsibility for the murders of Trevor and Samuel Fraiser.

Paula was subsequently exonerated and successfully fought for custody of her daughter, Hazel. The judge ruled that Hazel would remain with Paula, despite challenges from Karl and Mallory (Jessy Hodges).

New Threats Emerge

Despite the apparent resolution, Detective Baxter and Detective Garcia (Dolly de Leon) investigated Jennifer's death, realizing a threat remained. Brian shot and killed Jennifer, stating, "All done, sunny skies ahead!" However, the season finale revealed that Geri (Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg), upset that Rudy (Charlie Hall) had reunited with his ex, moved forward with publishing a damaging article about Paula.

More alarmingly, Paula received a message containing security footage from a past incident in Portland where she threatened to kill her neighbor, Caleb. The sender, whose identity remains unknown, implied they had leverage over Paula, stating, "We own you. You're gonna do us a favor." The season ended with Paula answering a phone call from an unknown number, indicating that the ordeal is far from over.
