Maura Higgins has left the United Kingdom for Los Angeles, where she is set to compete on the upcoming season of "Dancing With The Stars." The former "Love Island" contestant marked her departure with a farewell gathering that included karaoke and American-themed gifts from her friends.
Among the gifts was an AI-generated image of Higgins holding the "Dancing With The Stars" trophy. She shared a selfie with friends, including Dazz Reece, Sophie Laura, Liat, Luke Hamnett, and Krystal Dawn, captioning it, "It's my last day in the UK, love my girls and gays."
Higgins also shared a video of herself singing, with a humorous comment from Hamnett about hoping her dancing skills surpassed her singing.
Earlier, Higgins had expressed her excitement for the show but also voiced reservations about being partnered with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko, citing disagreements with his past comments about women. She stated her intention to remain loyal to her friend Brooks Nader, a former "Dancing With The Stars" contestant who previously dated Savchenko.
Savchenko responded to Higgins' comments, asserting he had never heard of her and would not be concerned by the opinion of someone he has never met. He suggested that Higgins' public remarks might be an attempt to gain attention before the show's premiere.
Savchenko and Nader's past relationship was reportedly tumultuous, ending in split rumors in late 2024. Higgins indicated a preference for being paired with Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
Higgins' stance on Savchenko stems from his public comments about Nader, whom he described negatively. The professional dancer and Nader began a relationship in the fall of 2024 while partnered on the show, but they reportedly separated by October of that year. Despite a brief reconciliation, they reportedly parted ways again in April of the following year.
