MasterChef winner Thomasina Miers has revealed she has undergone a mastectomy following a breast cancer diagnosis. Miers, co-founder of the restaurant chain Wahaca, shared her experience and urged women to seek medical advice for any breast lumps.

"Originally, I’d had a cyst there but the second and third lump turned out not to be one at all. Quite the reverse. They were bad asses," Miers stated. She emphasized the importance of prompt checks, encouraging, "always check a lump even if you think it’s a cyst and do it promptly."

Miers, 50, expressed gratitude for advancements in breast cancer care and hopes to avoid chemotherapy. She believes diet will play a role in her recovery, stating, "Food is medicine."

This health challenge comes as Miers navigates other personal battles, including a decade-long struggle with an eating disorder and managing ADHD. She noted that age has brought a new perspective, stating, "Age helps. Age is wisdom. Women particularly benefit from the passing of time by absorbing small truths."
