MasterChef Australia star Pat McGarry and his fiancée Emma have welcomed their second child, a daughter named Stevie Anne McGarry. The baby was born a few weeks past her due date, weighing 9.2 pounds.
McGarry shared the news on Instagram, introducing his newborn daughter and noting that their elder daughter, Frankie, is enjoying her new role as a big sister. He also stated that Emma is recovering well.
"Absolutely delighted to introduce Stevie Anne McGarry. A couple weeks past her due date she was extracted weighing 9.2 pounds," McGarry captioned the post. He added, "Frankie is loving being a big sister and our hero @emmmamiller is recovering well."
Speaking to TV Week, McGarry described the transition to a family of four as smooth, noting that Stevie has been calm since her arrival. "I wonder when she's going to start screaming at us, but she's just taking it all in slowly. She's loving her feeds and then she snoozes in between those. We've been very lucky so far," he said.
The arrival of Stevie did not go entirely as planned. McGarry revealed that the birth was initially scheduled for induction, but unforeseen circumstances on the day led to an emergency C-section. "She was 15 days overdue, so in food terms, she was definitely well done," McGarry joked. "There was going to be an induction, but a few curveballs on the day meant it ended up being an emergency C-section. It was a very stressful and full-on few weeks."
McGarry and Emma, a teacher, have been together since 2013. He previously shared that he proposed to Emma the day they moved in together, with Emma dressed as Miss Trunchbull from Matilda for Book Week.
MasterChef Australia airs Monday to Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. on Network Ten and 10.
