Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made a rare joint public appearance Friday evening at a New York Fashion Week soirée hosted by Bloomingdale’s and W Magazine, posing for photographs with W editor in chief Sara Moonves.
The 39-year-old twins arrived together and were photographed attempting to shield their faces as they entered the event. Once inside they were seen standing with Moonves; Mary-Kate wore an oversized, colorful scarf layered over a gray shirt and black slacks, paired with black boots and a classic black handbag. Ashley opted for a black trench coat with a printed scarf, also carrying a black bag and wearing black boots. Both wore their long, wavy brown hair parted in the middle and appeared in minimal makeup.
The outing is one of several recent public sightings for the sisters, who have largely retreated from the spotlight to focus on their private fashion business. In August they were photographed at a Hamptons storefront curating merchandise for The Row, the high-end label they launched in 2005. The twins also stepped out together in November 2024 for Moonves’ star-studded birthday party in New York, an event that drew celebrities including Zoë Kravitz, Martha Stewart and Faith Hill. In February 2024 they were seen on a rare night out in New York with their younger sister, actress Elizabeth Olsen.
Mary-Kate and Ashley have kept an exceptionally low public profile since their child-actor days on the 1980s sitcom Full House. The sisters’ family life has also been guarded: Mary-Kate became an aunt in 2023 when Ashley and husband Louis Eisner welcomed a son, Otto, a birth that drew little public attention at the time. Ashley and Eisner were photographed together at the YES Scholars 25th Anniversary Gala on Sept. 4 in Los Angeles. Mary-Kate finalized her divorce from French banker Olivier Sarkozy in January 2021.
The sisters’ appearance at the Bloomingdale’s and W Magazine event underlined the continued interest in the twins as both cultural figures and fashion industry players. Though they rarely seek publicity, their attendance at high-profile industry events remains notable because it offers a glimpse of the designers behind The Row, a label known for its understated luxury and for eschewing conventional celebrity promotion.
Photographers captured the Olsens arriving and mingling at the party, and the images follow a pattern of occasional, carefully managed public outings. For decades the twins have balanced a private lifestyle with sustained influence in fashion, maintaining a discreet public presence while steering a critically acclaimed brand.
