During a live interview on the grid before the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, Sky Sports Formula One reporter Martin Brundle experienced an awkward moment when he mistakenly asked actor Hugh Grant about the television series "The Gentleman."
Brundle, known for his pre-race grid walks and celebrity interviews, approached Grant, who was attending the event as a guest of Ferrari. "Are you doing another round of The Gentleman, soon, because I really loved that?" Brundle asked.
Grant clarified that while he starred in the film version of "The Gentleman," he had not appeared in the Netflix television series. "Well, I did the film of The Gentleman. I haven't seen the TV series," Grant responded.
Brundle, appearing sheepish, replied, "Oh right, it's really good, you really must," before the interaction was quickly concluded. The moment was widely shared on social media.
This was not the only notable interaction for Brundle on the grid that day. Earlier, he encountered singer Lewis Capaldi, who he had previously mistaken for his brother at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix. This time, Brundle acknowledged Capaldi directly, even sharing a hug, seeming to put the previous misunderstanding to rest. "Where's your bro? Is he on the grid somewhere?" Brundle quipped, to which Capaldi replied, "He's here, somewhere. He's over there. He's obsessed - he loves it."
The British Grand Prix was ultimately won by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
