Bec Zacharia, a participant on Married At First Sight, has announced her intention to undergo the controversial 'Barbie waist' surgery in Bali. This marks a reversal of her decision to cancel the procedure earlier in the week. Zacharia confirmed her change of mind in an Instagram video on Thursday, stating she has booked the surgery for Monday.

Zacharia, 35, explained that after careful consideration, she decided to proceed with the rib contouring operation. "I know that I said I would make a decision by Thursday and I have," she stated in the video. "I have thought about this long and hard. I've thought about whether this procedure is something I want, and I've decided that I do. So I will be going ahead with the procedure of rib contouring."

She added that the decision was solidified after realizing she felt disappointed, not relieved, when she initially canceled. "I want this, so I've made that decision for myself and I'm going ahead... My body my choice," Zacharia said. She intends to document her experience on Instagram.

The reality star had previously made a last-minute decision to withdraw from the surgery just before she was scheduled to undergo the operation. Speaking on the MAFS Funny podcast, Zacharia admitted she had arrived at the Bali hospital prepared for the surgery but questioned her readiness and desire for the procedure at that moment. "I walked in and I thought, 'Am I ready? Is this what I want to do?'" she recalled. "I just think that I'm going to take a little bit of time to think about it a little bit more."

Podcast host Josh Fox confirmed Zacharia contacted him shortly after arriving at the hospital to inform him of her decision to change her mind. Zacharia emphasized that the company facilitating her trip had not pressured her to proceed with the operation, stating, "The company that's brought me out here isn't pressuring me saying, 'You've got to get it done.' I have the full ability to make that decision as to whether or not it's something that aligns with me."

The 'Barbie waist' surgery, also known as rib contouring, involves reshaping the lower floating ribs to create a smaller waist without bone removal. The procedure is not currently available in Australia. It has gained popularity among influencers, prompting discussions and debates online regarding the promotion of unrealistic beauty standards. Fellow Married At First Sight stars, including Domenica Calarco and Beck Zemek, have voiced criticism of the trend, with Zemek warning about the potential risks and the promotion of body modification based on trends.
