Marisa Abela and Jamie Bogyo were married Saturday in a late‑afternoon ceremony at Firle Place, a 15th‑century manor in Sussex, the couple and their guests confirmed. The ceremony included readings by both fathers, a musical performance by drama‑school friends and a choice of processional music that referenced an early moment in the couple’s relationship.
Abela, 28, walked down the aisle to the theme from Cinema Paradiso, the film the pair watched together before saying “I love you.” Jamie Bogyo, 31, was attended by a best man, Nate Janis, who also officiated the vows. Friends Liadán Dunlea and Iwan Davis performed John Martyn’s "May You Never" during the service.
Photographs obtained by British Vogue show Abela in a satin Emilia Wickstead gown with a sculpted off‑the‑shoulder bodice, a drop waist and a nine‑foot veil. She completed the bridal look with custom Jimmy Choo Max 150 heels personalised with the couple’s initials, diamond drop earrings and a diamond headpiece. Bogyo wore a custom double‑breasted tuxedo by Dunhill with black‑and‑white detailing. For the evening reception Abela changed into a second Emilia Wickstead design, described as an ivory Micheline gown with a column shape and wide‑set square neckline; she told British Vogue she wanted a second dress that would allow her to dance.
After the ceremony the newlyweds celebrated with guests under a shower of confetti, sharing champagne and cocktails alongside a selection of canapés. Later in the evening attendees were taken to Soho House Brighton for an intimate dinner followed by dancing. Ahead of the wedding day, Abela wore a custom dress by The Own Studio and a Noel Stewart hat for the rehearsal dinner.
Abela and Bogyo publicly announced their engagement in July. Abela, who portrayed Amy Winehouse in the biopic Back to Black, shared the news on Instagram, calling herself a “weeping mess”; Bogyo posted photos of the proposal with the caption, “She said she’ll think about it!” The couple marked the engagement on Primrose Hill, a location associated with Winehouse, in what their posts described as a celebratory nod to the late singer.
Abela rose to international attention for her portrayal of Winehouse, and Bogyo is known for his work on the West End. The wedding at Firle Place brought together family, close friends and colleagues from their drama‑school years for a ceremony that combined personal touches, musical selections important to the couple, and couture designs from established fashion houses.
