Mario Falcone, once one of the most recognisable faces of The Only Way Is Essex, has largely stepped away from the party scene that made him a tabloid fixture, trading a high-profile dating life for parenting duties and a change in appearance that followed cosmetic surgery.
Falcone, who joined TOWIE in 2011 and was known for his on-and-off romance with Lucy Mecklenburgh and a succession of public relationships, has become a father to two and runs a footwear and clothing label, Belvotti Milano. He said last year he underwent upper and lower blepharoplasty to address hooded eyelids and eye bags, calling the procedure a response to a personal insecurity.
Falcone first rose to prominence on TOWIE in 2011 as Mecklenburgh’s boyfriend, becoming known for a playboy image that included his claim, made while he was in his mid-20s, that he had slept with hundreds of women. His relationships on and off screen, including a publicised engagement to Mecklenburgh in 2012 that was later called off, and subsequent links to other figures from the British reality circuit, were recurring storylines on the show.
A brief relationship with co-star Chloe Sims, revealed by paparazzi images, created friction because of ties between Sims and Falcone’s friends; Falcone told Charlie Sims at the time that the fallout had been hard to handle because "everyone in Essex gets involved." The relationship ended shortly afterwards and Sims later described their split as amicable.
Falcone began dating Becky in the summer of 2016. The couple became engaged during a 2017 holiday in Santorini and married in Sorrento, Italy, in 2022 after postponing their ceremony twice — first because Becky was expecting their son, Parker Jax Falcone, and later because of Covid-19. The couple also have a daughter, Cali Roux Falcone. Falcone has described fatherhood in strongly positive terms, saying being a dad is "the best thing in the world."
While presenting a more domestic image, Falcone has also spoken publicly about the pressures of parenting. In 2019 he said he experienced "soul-destroying loneliness" as a stay-at-home father, lamenting that men are often "too scared" to speak about struggles and denying that he wanted to burden his partner when she returned from work. Becky works as a salon owner, and Falcone said there were few other fathers around to share the daily routine when he was caring for their son alone.
On his appearance, Falcone revealed on Instagram that he had paid £3,700 for blepharoplasty last year, saying, "My hooded eye lids have been something I have grown very conscious of over the past couple of years. I blame the kids," and thanking the surgeon, Dr. Carlo Debbas, for the results. Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin or fat from the eyelids to reduce the appearance of drooping lids or bags.
Away from the camera, Falcone has focused increasingly on his business interests. He is associated with Belvotti Milano and has said he spends more time on footwear and clothing design than on the nightclub scene that characterised his earlier public life. He is the younger brother of author and broadcaster Giovanna Fletcher, who won I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! in a previous series.
Falcone’s arc — from reality television notoriety and tabloid headlines to a more private family life and a small business owner — follows a familiar pattern for many who found early fame on structured reality programmes. He remains visible on social media and in occasional media appearances, but his recent comments and choices indicate a pivot toward family and work rather than the nightlife that once made him a regular at Essex venues such as the Sugar Hut.
As Falcone continues to balance parenting, marriage and business, he has acknowledged both the rewards and the strains of that life change, and his recent surgery was framed by him as a personal adjustment rather than a bid to return to the public drama that characterised his early career.
