The second season of Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is set to expand upon the character of Suki, the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors. Played by Maria Zhang, Suki is a skilled non-bender who excels in hand-to-hand combat. In the first season, she initially apprehended Aang and his companions, suspecting them of being Fire Nation spies, but later allowed them to stay.

During their time in the Earth Kingdom, Suki forms a bond with Sokka, a member of the Southern Water Tribe. The live-action series has accelerated the development of their relationship compared to the original animated series, a change that has received varied reactions.

Season 2 will feature Suki in a more central role, joining Aang and his allies on their journey. She and the Kyoshi Warriors are depicted as protectors of villages and refugees across the Earth Kingdom against the Fire Nation.

Maria Zhang, a Polish-born Chinese actress, portrays Suki. Zhang began her acting career in community theater after her grandmother discovered an advertisement for young actors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in acting from the University of Southern California and has appeared in short films and television shows such as ABC's 'The Rookie' and Netflix's 'A Man on the Inside'. Playing Suki marks Zhang's first significant television role.
