Actress Margot Robbie surprised patients at Toowoomba Hospital in Queensland during a recent visit to the children's ward. The Gold Coast-born star, 35, lightened the mood by performing a rendition of Aqua's hit song "Barbie Girl," reportedly using a deep baritone voice for the iconic chorus.
Footage shared on social media captured Robbie engaging with young patients, participating in games, and taking selfies. She expressed nervousness before the visit but embraced the opportunity to bring smiles to the children and their families.
Robbie also met a newborn baby during her visit. She praised the hospital staff for their work, calling it "so important." The visit follows a period of significant personal and professional milestones for the actress, including becoming a mother and the global success of the film "Barbie."
Earlier in the year, Robbie clarified a persistent misconception about her birthplace. Contrary to widespread belief that she was born in the rural Queensland town of Dalby, she revealed on UK radio station Magic FM that she was actually born in the larger city of Gold Coast.
"The internet has had my place of birth wrong like the whole time," Robbie stated, expressing surprise at the enduring inaccuracy. She explained that while her family originates from Dalby, a town of approximately 12,000 people located about 260 kilometers inland, she was not born there.
Robbie previously shared anecdotes about Dalby on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in 2014, describing it as a small town where the arrival of a chain department store like Big W was a significant event, highlighting the slower pace of life there compared to her experiences in Hollywood. She initially rose to fame in 2008 on the Australian soap opera "Neighbours."
