Margot Robbie was photographed leaving The Greenwich Hotel in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood on Tuesday in an outfit that revealed a hint of a black bra beneath a dark gray blazer as she headed to tape Late Night with Seth Meyers at NBC’s Studio 8G.
Robbie, 35, was scheduled to appear on the talk show with co-star Colin Farrell, 49, and actor-director Eva Longoria as part of promotional appearances for the film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.
The Australian actor wore the dark gray blazer with a tapered hem over light-gray, denim-style trousers, black peep-toe clogs and carried a matching purse. She wore shades chosen by stylist Andrew Mukamal. Hairstylist Bryce Scarlett styled her dark-blonde hair in a middle-parted blowout and make-up artist Pati Dubroff opted for a natural look with a pink lip and defined brows.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, directed by Kogonada, follows characters who discover portals to the past. Robbie plays a character named Sarah and uses an American accent for the role. The film, produced by Song Pictures, co-stars Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith and Phoebe Waller-Bridge and is scheduled to open in U.S. and U.K. theaters this Friday. The film carries a reported $60 million production budget and, as of the latest tally, holds a 56% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 36 reviews.
Farrell, who is appearing alongside Robbie on the promotional circuit, drew attention earlier on Tuesday after an expletive was caught on a live broadcast of NBC’s TODAY while he sampled a snack, an exchange that was widely reported. On Late Night, both actors were expected to discuss the new film and their press appearances.
Off-screen, Robbie and her husband, producer Tom Ackerley, are preparing to mark the first birthday of their son on Oct. 17. The couple met in 2013 on the set of Suite Française, began dating in 2014 and co-founded production company LuckyChap Entertainment the same year. They have been married for eight years.
Robbie also has another high-profile project on the horizon. She is set to portray Catherine Earnshaw in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, due in theaters Feb. 13. The casting and costume choices for that film have provoked criticism from some viewers, who have objected to Robbie’s portrayal of a character traditionally described as dark-haired and to the choice of a white, glittery wedding gown, which some say would not have been period-accurate for the novel’s 1801 setting. Fans also raised concerns about the casting of Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, citing the character’s original descriptions and alleged Romani, African or South Asian origins.
Asked about parenthood in a recent interview, Robbie described it in simple terms: "It's kind of like, 'It's the best,' you know?" The actress continues to balance promotional duties, upcoming film roles and her work with LuckyChap Entertainment as she tours for the new release.
