Maisie Williams paid sartorial homage to her "Practical Magic 2" co-star Sandra Bullock at the film's London premiere on Tuesday, opting for a custom gown that echoed an ensemble Bullock wore in 1999. The "Game of Thrones" actress, 29, chose a deep oxblood Ellie Misner creation for the event. This dress featured a corseted bodice and a flowing draped skirt with a train, drawing inspiration from a two-piece outfit Bullock wore to the premiere of "Forces of Nature" 27 years prior.
Bullock's original look consisted of a boat-neck T-shirt and a matching silk maxi skirt. For the "Practical Magic 2" premiere, the oxblood gown was a modern interpretation, described by stylist Dino Bonačić as a "snatched corset reflecting the effect of a ruched T-shirt, an even more exuberant wrap skirt with a train." Misner, a London-based designer known for her demi-couture corsetry, collaborated with Bonačić on the custom piece. Williams further accessorized with Bulgari high jewelry, including a rubellite tourmaline necklace that complemented the gown's color.
The tribute extended to another ensemble worn by Bullock. For an earlier photocall, Williams donned a custom black off-the-shoulder gown, referencing a similar dress Bullock wore to the 2006 premiere of "Infamous." Bonačić stated on Instagram that this choice was like "pulling from mama's closet," with Williams styling the look with layered choker necklaces, punky brooches, and a chainmail purse.
Williams, who plays Antonia Owens, the younger daughter of Bullock's Sally in the sequel, described her character as "Sally's shadow" who has "taken after her mother quite a lot." The film reunites the original cast with newcomers Williams and Joey King and is scheduled to be released on September 18. At the premiere, co-star Nicole Kidman appeared in a custom Chanel gown, and Joey King wore a Miu Miu creation. Bullock herself made a statement in a Givenchy gown featuring a cheetah print.
