Madonna, 67, is featured on the latest cover of Vogue Italia, showcasing a series of provocative images captured by photographer Rafael Pavarotti. In the accompanying interview, the music superstar discussed her upcoming album, "Confessions II," set for release on July 3, and shared her critical stance on artificial intelligence in the music industry.
The images, styled with pieces from Madonna's personal archive, include shots where she is seen in a nude corset, fishnet tights, glittering gold heels, and pink kneepads, with her pink-tinged hair. One notable image captures the singer grabbing her chest with her head back.
"Confessions II" is described as a sequel to her 2005 album and reunites her with producer Stuart Price. Madonna explained that the album is inspired by her connection to dancefloors, which she views as spaces for freeing the body and mind. She also noted that dance has been a crucial element in her life, allowing her to escape a perceived "prosaic life" in the Midwest and pursue her dreams in New York.
Madonna also spoke about her practice of disconnecting from social media and the online world when working on new music, calling it a way to "fuel imagination" and emphasizing the need for stillness and connection with nature and family. She is a mother to six children.
Addressing the rise of artificial intelligence and digital trends in music, Madonna expressed concern. "Algorithms and artificial intelligence are the opposite of taking risks and to me that is the opposite of making art," she stated. She believes there is too much emphasis on musicians' online following rather than their creative output, contrasting it with an era she values where artists worked from a "pure place."
