Macaulay Culkin is reportedly in talks with Disney to reprise his role as Kevin McCallister in a potential reboot of the "Home Alone" franchise, according to reporting from The Town podcast host Matthew Belloni.

Belloni stated on his podcast that Culkin, 45, had met with Walt Disney Studios executives at their Burbank, California, lot. The discussions focused on potential creative directions for reviving the film series. "He's talked about having an idea for a new Home Alone, and Disney is, like, salivating," Belloni said.

Disney executives have expressed flexibility in their efforts to secure Culkin for the project, recognizing the enduring popularity of the original 1990 film. Sources familiar with the reboot concepts described the idea as "a really good idea," with Disney seeing a reboot as a potentially "gigantic" project given the franchise's consistent streaming performance during the holiday season.

Culkin himself has previously indicated a willingness to consider a return to the role, provided the project was the right fit. Speaking last November at a spoken word show, he said he "wouldn’t be completely allergic" to another "Home Alone" endeavor. He outlined a potential storyline where his character, Kevin McCallister, is a widower or divorcee struggling to balance work and parenting, leading to him being locked out of his own home by his son.

Macaulay Culkin starred as Kevin McCallister in the original "Home Alone" in 1990 and reprised the role for the 1992 sequel, "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York." He did not participate in the four subsequent films released in the franchise.

Belloni also touched on the success of Culkin's brother, Kieran Culkin, who has received acclaim for his roles in "Succession" and a 2025 Academy Award win. Kieran Culkin played Kevin's younger brother, Fuller, in the original "Home Alone" films, leaving open the possibility for his involvement in a reboot.

The original "Home Alone" featured a cast including Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O'Hara, and John Candy. Culkin played Kevin McCallister in the franchise, which initially arrived in theaters in November of 1990
