Lynne McGranger, a veteran actress best known for her role as Irene Roberts on the Australian soap opera Home and Away, has stated she did not receive an invitation to this year's TV Week Logie Awards. McGranger, 73, expressed surprise at the apparent oversight, noting that fellow Gold Logie recipient Larry Emdur was also taken aback when she shared the news.

However, representatives for the Logie Awards have contested McGranger's account. A spokesperson told TV Tonight that an invitation was issued to her agent in June, followed by a confirmed reminder receipt before her manager formally declined via the event's online portal. Organizers also highlighted that past Gold Logie winners are regularly invited to the ceremony and indicated McGranger's absence is understood to be due to prior travel commitments.

McGranger's comments come as she embarks on a new chapter in her career following her departure from Home and Away after 33 years. She recently joined the new television series Shark!, a show she described as an opportunity to embrace new challenges and demonstrate that age should not be a barrier to achievement. The series features six Australian celebrities confronting their fears in the ocean and learning about sharks.

In addition to her television work, McGranger has expressed a desire to return to her theatrical roots, a motivation that contributed to her decision to leave Home and Away. She explained that the demanding production schedule of the long-running soap had limited her ability to pursue outside projects in her final years. Now free from those commitments, McGranger feels more at liberty to discuss her career experiences, including a past incident of workplace bullying that occurred earlier in her career and was unrelated to Home and Away producers.

She also offered advice to aspiring performers, emphasizing hard work, kindness, and respect, stating, "There's no place for egos in this industry." McGranger praised her Shark! co-stars, particularly influencer Tammy Hembrow, whom she described as a "real mermaid." The TV Week Logie Awards are scheduled to air on Seven on August 16.
