Lucy Davis has expressed being "utterly overwhelmed" by the "tremendous kindness" she has received since revealing her stage four breast cancer diagnosis. The actress shared her gratitude in an Instagram post following her announcement earlier this week that she has incurable cancer that has metastasized to her bones.

"Truly, I am in shock. That said…. THANK YOU to everyone for the tremendous amount of kindness and support you have sent me," Davis wrote. She indicated that she is still going through the messages and expressed that the response has been emotional. She also humorously noted that a few people who mistook her announcement for a death notice would be "delighted to know I am still alive - hurrah!"

Davis, 53, revealed her diagnosis on Tuesday, stating she has cancer in her spine, hip, and ribs, and that it is "too late for chemo." She discovered a "tiny, hard spot" in her breast a year and a half ago and almost didn't get it checked. "So I guess I'm saying don't ignore anything - get everything checked out," she advised.

Despite the prognosis, Davis stated she is "at peace with whatever comes next." She shared that humor has been vital, and she has asked friends and family to tease her and, most importantly, to not treat her as a sick person. "There's nothing that will make you feel more unwell than being treated as if you're unwell," she said.

She also shared a throwback video of a skateboarding lesson from actor Malachi Barton. "So, to lighten things up, here’s a video of my first (and last) skateboarding lesson," she wrote.

Davis is known for her role as Dawn Tinsley in Ricky Gervais's The Office. She also appeared in the film Wonder Woman and the series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She has a history of health issues, including a kidney transplant in 1997 and past struggles with bulimia.

Several co-stars and colleagues offered messages of support. Ricky Gervais posted a heart emoji, while Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesly in the U.S. version of The Office, sent a message of solidarity. Fischer herself was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer in 2023. Amanda Abbington, who worked with Davis on the series Married Single Other, also sent her love and support.
