Lucia Hawley experienced a notable first as she interviewed her aunt, actress Nicole Kidman, for the first time on Thursday. The interview, conducted for SheerLuxe and also featuring Kidman's "Practical Magic 2" co-star Sandra Bullock, saw a visibly nervous Hawley, 27, express her unease. "I feel nervous!" she stated, as captured in a clip shared on Instagram.
Kidman, 59, introduced her niece to the viewers, and the conversation soon turned to a unique aspect of the Kidman family women. Hawley shared that some might describe them as having a "magical" inclination. "Some people would say, 'witches'," Hawley told Bullock, 62, adding that their grandmother, Janelle Ann Kidman, was born on Friday the 13th. Bullock responded with a lighthearted, "Oh, it all makes sense now!"
Kidman elaborated on the family's connection to magic, mentioning her preference for "love spells." She also humorously revealed a tactic for dealing with those who upset her: writing their name and placing it in the freezer to "freeze them out." Hawley then recalled that their grandmother "used to have a list of names in the ice cube area." Kidman clarified that reconciliation could allow someone to "come out of the freezer."
The "Practical Magic 2" sequel is set to premiere on September 11. The film adapts Alice Hoffman's 2021 book "The Book of Magic" and continues the story more than 25 years after the original 1998 cult film. Kidman reprises her role as Gillian, and Sandra Bullock returns as Sally Owens. The new film also introduces the next generation of their family, with Joey King and Maisie Williams playing Bullock's on-screen daughters. Lee Pace and Solly McLeod are also part of the cast, with Warner Bros. executive producing.
This interview follows Kidman's recent debut on TikTok, where she shared behind-the-scenes footage from the "Practical Magic 2" premiere in London. She attended the event in a custom silver Chanel gown, captioning her post with a "magic"-themed message.
