Molly Smith, a participant in the reality television show Love Island, publicly declared her newlywed status over a plane's tannoy system while returning to Manchester with her husband, Tom Clare. The announcement came after Smith lost a bet to friends during their journey back from a 10-day wedding celebration in Mallorca.
Smith and Clare tied the knot at Son Marroig, a 17th-century marble temple in Mallorca known for its sea views. The wedding festivities included fellow Love Island cast members Sophie Piper, Joshua Ritchie, Casey O'Gorman, and Mitch Taylor. The group documented aspects of the 10-day event on social media, which reportedly included a police warning for guests jumping into the port.
Upon returning to Manchester on Friday, Smith, having lost a game of Uno at the departure gate, was compelled to make her announcement to the flight's passengers. Filmed by her friends, she addressed the cabin, stating, "Everyone can I just have your attention please. I hope you all had the best holiday, I did because I just got married." She then displayed her wedding ring to cheers from fellow passengers.
Earlier, Sophie Piper shared that she woke up with a hangover and a tequila tattoo on her foot following a night out during the wedding celebrations. Tom Clare also marked the end of the wedding party, sharing on social media, "Last night vibes! What an unbelievable 10 days, married my sole mate and made memories to tell the grandkids! Magical. Oh, and got my first tattoo."
Molly and Tom, who met on the 2024 All Stars season of Love Island, reportedly held a second wedding ceremony. The destination wedding, estimated to cost around £10,000, featured a candle-lit reception and sunset views. Despite a brief intervention from local authorities regarding guests jumping into the port, Smith appeared unfazed, reportedly serving shots and joining guests in the sea.
