Love Island stars Sean 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald and Lola Deal have confirmed they are now boyfriend and girlfriend, three weeks after their departure from the ITV2 dating show. The couple, who were voted one of the public's least favorite pairings, made their relationship official after leaving the villa.

Fitzgerald, a Gaelic footballer, surprised Deal, a police detective, with an elaborate display of balloons in a hotel room, spelling out "Will you be my girlfriend?" Deal shared the moment on Instagram, expressing her happiness, with fellow islanders Priya Jaswal and Yasmin Hadlow offering congratulatory messages.

Sean and Lola coupled up on the first day of the series and expressed their love for each other early on. Their connection was tested by a few disagreements, notably with fellow contestant Julia, particularly after Sean's time in Casa Amor. Lola had defended Sean's need for a "test" in the second villa, leading to tense exchanges around the firepit.

Following public votes, Sean and Lola found themselves in the bottom three least favorite couples. Although the power to decide who to eliminate lay with the top-rated couple, Julia and Lorenzo, Sean and Lola ultimately chose to leave the villa voluntarily. They stated they had found what they were looking for in each other and wanted to give the other couples a fairer chance.

Lola reflected on their exit, describing it as a "perfect end to our journey." She highlighted finding Sean as the most significant outcome of her time on the show and expressed satisfaction with the depth of their connection, stating, "We went in there for love and we found that, so there was nothing more we needed from it."
