Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan, known for their roles as hobbits in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, recently reunited for dinner in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The gathering took place 23 years after the release of "The Return of the King," the final film in the acclaimed series, which won 11 Academy Awards.

Sean Astin shared a photo of the reunion on Instagram, captioning it "The band's all here." Dominic Monaghan also posted a picture from inside the Peruvian restaurant La Royal, describing the evening as one filled with "three cocktails, two desserts and one great night of conversation." The restaurant staff reportedly described the event as a "magic evening."

The reunion generated significant excitement among fans online. Many commented on the enduring friendship between the actors, with one user quipping, "It's second breakfast!" another noting, "Now that's a Fellowship!" and a third expressing happiness at seeing the four together again.

Dominic Monaghan later posted an Instagram story featuring Elijah Wood with the caption, "Looks like our engagement party announcement, haha!"

Wood, who played Frodo Baggins, has retained several props from his time in the trilogy, including the One Ring, his sword Sting, and a pair of prosthetic hobbit feet. He is also the only one of the four hobbits confirmed to be involved in Andy Serkis's upcoming prequel, "Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum," scheduled for release on December 17, 2027. Serkis is set to direct and reprise his role as Gollum.

The entire group, along with John Rhys-Davies and David Wenham, is also slated to appear in "The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past." This film, set 14 years after Frodo's passing, is being written by Stephen Colbert, his son Peter McGee, and Philippa Boyens. Filming for "The Hunt for Gollum" is expected to begin later this year in Wellington, New Zealand.

Fans interested in seeing the actors in person can attend Fan Expo Canada from August 28-30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Astin, Boyd, and Monaghan charge $110 for photos and autographs, while Wood charges $120 for autographs and selfies, and $125 for photos.
