Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan, known for their roles as Hobbits in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, recently reunited for dinner in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The gathering occurred 23 years after the release of "The Return of the King," the final film in the acclaimed series, which won 11 Academy Awards.

Sean Astin shared a photograph of the reunion on Instagram, captioning it, "The band's all here." Dominic Monaghan also posted images from the Peruvian restaurant La Royal, describing the evening as one of "three cocktails, two desserts and one great night of conversation." The restaurant staff reportedly expressed excitement over the cast's visit.

Fans reacted enthusiastically to the reunion on social media. Comments included sentiments like "The fact that you [four] still hang out is so goddamn endearing" and "Now that's a Fellowship!"

Wood, who played Frodo Baggins, is known to have kept several items from the production, including the One Ring, his character's sword Sting, and a pair of prosthetic Hobbit feet. He is also the only one of the four featured in the upcoming prequel, "Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum," directed by Andy Serkis and scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.

All four actors are slated to reprise their roles in "The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past," a project penned by Stephen Colbert, his son Peter McGee, and Philippa Boyens. This film is set 14 years after Frodo's passing. Serkis, Ian McKellen, Kate Winslet, Jamie Dornan, Leo Woodall, and Lee Pace are also expected to be part of the cast. Filming for "The Hunt for Gollum" is scheduled to commence later this year in Wellington, New Zealand.

Fans will have an opportunity to see Wood, Astin, Boyd, and Monaghan in person, along with fellow cast members John Rhys-Davies and David Wenham, at Fan Expo Canada from August 28-30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Autograph and photo opportunities are available, with pricing varying by actor.
