London’s Biddy Mulligan’s Olympia, a pub in Brook Green in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, has created a permanent Charlie Kirk Debate Room inside its entertainment lounge to honor slain activist Charlie Kirk. The new room will carry his name and will host events celebrating free speech and the achievements of Kirk, the Turning Point USA founder whose speaking engagements drew supporters and critics alike.
A pub representative said the decision was a response to Kirk’s assassination and an intention to keep open dialogue. The press release describes the room as a space to celebrate the life of one of the MAGA movement's most visible figures and to encourage public discussion.
Smyth, the pub's landlord, said he was shocked by the killing and emphasized that the renaming is meant to send a message against violent extremism. He noted that the bar's aim is to stand against intimidation and to support peaceful debate.
In addition to the permanent room, the pub announced a temporary rebranding ahead of President Donald Trump's visit to the United Kingdom. For a limited time, the establishment will operate as The Trump Arms to welcome the visiting president. Smyth said the name will stay in place for the duration of Trump's visit, and the pub plans to showcase speeches and events tied to the United States leader's agenda.
Trump's visit has stirred strong opinions in Britain and has already spurred commentary among patrons and local regulars. One regular customer, Patrick Sullivan, praised the leadership style associated with Trump and suggested that the move reflects a broader political moment.
Kirk was shot while addressing students at Utah Valley University, an incident that drew vigils and condolences from across the United States and beyond. The international response to his death has included tributes from conservative and libertarian supporters worldwide.
City and pub officials have not indicated any further changes, but the pub's spokesman said more events honoring Kirk's memory and promoting free expression are planned. The combination of a permanent tribute and a temporary nod to a visiting president places Biddy Mulligan's Olympia at the center of a broader debate about culture, politics, and free speech.
