London's Anya Hindmarch's The Village is celebrating its fifth year of The Ice Cream Project, a seasonal concept store featuring an array of unconventional ice cream flavors. The collection, available until August 16, aims to translate pantry staples into frozen desserts.

This year's lineup includes flavors inspired by household brands such as Aunt Bessie's, Lurpak Salted Butter, and Jacob's Mini Cheddars. The English designer, known for her appreciation of cult food items, describes the project as a celebration of ice cream and sorbet with a twist, drawing inspiration from items typically found in a pantry.

The ice creams are produced in small batches in Devon. Among the more adventurous offerings are Green Giant Sweetcorn, which combines sweetcorn with vanilla ice cream, and Euthymol Original Toothpaste, a mint and thyme flavored creation. Other unexpected flavors include Aunt Bessie's, featuring golden syrup ice cream with Yorkshire pudding chunks, Oxo Stock Cubes, and Kikkoman Soy Sauce.

Sweet options also feature prominently, with Capri-Sun Orange, McVitie's Ginger Nuts, Müller Strawberry Corner made from frozen yogurt, Tunnock's Caramel Wafers, Walker's Shortbread, and YAZOO Chocolate Milk Drink. Customers can sample the flavors in-store or purchase pots to take away.

The Ice Cream Project first launched in the summer of 2023 and quickly gained popularity, attracting significant customer interest.

In related news, McVitie's recently released a Jaffa Cake biscuit, aiming to settle the long-standing debate over whether Jaffa Cakes are cakes or biscuits. The new product replaces the sponge base with a Digestive biscuit and adds a Jaffa Cake flavored layer. McVitie's stated the intention was to provide a definitive biscuit version for fans who consider Jaffa Cakes to be biscuits.
