A medical emergency involving a member of Earth, Wind & Fire caused the sudden postponement of a concert featuring Lionel Richie and the band Thursday night, leaving fans gathered outside San Francisco's Chase Center moments before its scheduled start.

The arena announced the delay shortly after 7:20 p.m., just before the 7:30 p.m. start time, citing an unspecified emergency with a band member. The identity and condition of the individual were not immediately disclosed.

The Chase Center stated that the show would be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced. Ticket holders were advised to keep their tickets for the new date or seek refunds at their point of purchase. It remains unclear if the postponement affects only the performance by Earth, Wind & Fire or the entire show.

The concert was slated to take place at the Chase Center, the Golden State Warriors' $1.4 billion home arena located in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood. The venue opened in September 2019 and was financed entirely by the Warriors ownership group and private investors, without public funds.

This incident follows a previous health concern for Lionel Richie, who canceled two concerts in June after experiencing a dizzy spell that led to his hospitalization.
