Lionel Richie has postponed his next two concerts following an onstage dizzy spell and subsequent hospitalization. The 77-year-old singer was unable to complete his performance Wednesday night in St. Paul, Minnesota, after experiencing dizziness while singing "Dancing on the Ceiling."

Live Nation Chicago announced Thursday that Richie would not perform as scheduled in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio. The announcement, shared via Instagram, stated that doctors advised Richie to rest and recover.

"Lionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans," the statement read. "We apologize for any inconvenience this causes fans who have tickets for these two shows. Rescheduled dates will be announced soon."

Richie and his tour co-headliner, Earth, Wind & Fire, are expected to perform Tuesday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The artist has not publicly commented on the health incident.

During the Wednesday concert, Richie reportedly sat down multiple times onstage due to dizziness and told the audience, "When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down." Following his departure from the stage, the band continued to perform for 15 minutes before a saxophonist announced the concert's cancellation, explaining that Richie was not feeling well.

Saint Paul Fire Department confirmed that an adult male was transported from the arena to a local hospital on Wednesday night. Richie, a Grammy winner, was in the midst of his "Sing a Song All Night Long" tour.
