Adorable pictures capture the moment a first-time mother lioness grooms one of her five cubs in Kafue National Park, Zambia. The young lion, however, does not seem particularly pleased about being cleaned by its mother.

The photographer, Mary Schrader, described the sighting as "especially remarkable and special" due to the rarity of such large litters and the lioness being a first-time mother. Litters of five cubs are uncommon, and raising them as a novice mother presents a significant challenge.

At the time the photographs were taken, the cubs were approximately two to three months old and heavily reliant on their mother. Schrader noted that the cub's reaction during the grooming session made the moment "particularly wonderful."
