Yulia Volkova, one half of the iconic Russian pop duo t.A.T.u., recently performed in Mexico, drawing significant attention for a dramatically altered appearance. Fans and observers noted Volkova, now 41, sported fuller lips, more defined cheekbones, a slimmer nose, and a more pointed chin compared to her younger years.

Volkova, who stylized herself as Julia on Instagram, took the stage with bandmate Lena Katina, 42, to perform their 2002 hit "All The Things She Said." While the performance delighted fans, Volkova's physical changes were a prominent topic of discussion, with some social media comments alluding to cosmetic procedures.

t.A.T.u. first gained international fame in 2002 with "All The Things She Said," a song known for its controversial music video depicting Volkova and Katina as an underage lesbian couple. The duo, formed in Moscow in 1999 by producer Ivan Shapovalov, became known for pushing boundaries. They later admitted that their lesbian persona was a marketing strategy.

Volkova has had a public life marked by several controversies. She welcomed a daughter in 2004 and a son in 2007. In 2010, she briefly converted to Islam before returning to Eastern Orthodox Christianity in 2017. In 2014, she made homophobic comments about homosexual men during a television appearance, stating a man "has no right to be a f**," though she differentiated this from her views on lesbians, whom she considered "aesthetically much nicer."

In April 2021, Volkova attempted a political career, running as a candidate for the United Russia party, but was unsuccessful in the legislative election.

In contrast, bandmate Lena Katina has largely focused on her solo music career, releasing three studio albums and topping the US Billboard club chart with her 2011 single "Never Forget." Katina, who appears to have aged naturally with minimal cosmetic intervention, has publicly supported the LGBT community, stating in 2014 that everyone should be free to love whom they choose.

Despite periods of estrangement and feuding, Volkova and Katina have reunited and continue to tour together.
