Vicky McClure, a star of the acclaimed police drama Line of Duty, has announced the conclusion of filming for the show's seventh series. McClure posted a celebratory Instagram message on Saturday, accompanied by a photograph of herself with co-stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar, marking the end of a four-month filming period. "And we’re Off Duty!! The last 4 months spent with two of my best mates", she wrote on the social media platform. "The brilliant cast & crew pulled out all the stops to bring script to life…thank you. Home time now, so can’t wait, missed my lot every single day."

The trio, who play the core Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12) members DS Steve Arnott, DI Kate Fleming, and Superintendent Ted Hastings respectively, reunited for the new series approximately five years after the sixth season concluded. The previous series' ending, which revealed Detective Superintendent Ian Buckells as the corrupt mastermind 'H', proved divisive among viewers.

Creator Jed Mercurio has recently offered glimpses of the upcoming series. Earlier this year, he shared an image on Instagram of Dunbar in character as Hastings, overlooking an office. The caption included one of Hastings' signature lines: "There's only one thing I'm interested in and one thing only and that's bent coppers."

Line of Duty, which initially aired on BBC Two before moving to BBC One from its fourth season, is set to introduce BAFTA-winning actor Robert Carlyle as a guest character, Detective Constable Shaun Massie. The seventh series will see the familiar AC-12 unit disbanded and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards. Despite the change in designation, the anti-corruption unit is expected to face its most challenging case yet, with Arnott, Fleming, and Hastings assigned to investigate.

The synopsis for the new series details Detective Constable Shaun Massie as a Specialist Rifle Officer and veteran marksman attached to Tactical Operations Unit 7, tasked with dismantling organized crime groups. While typically a reserved individual, Massie's demeanor is reported to shift significantly when his commanding officer, DI Dominic Gough, is accused of sexual predation.

Line of Duty series seven is anticipated to premiere in 2027.
