Lindsay Lohan marked her 40th birthday on Thursday by sharing a reflective message with her Instagram followers, acknowledging past challenges and expressing gratitude for her journey.

"Grateful for every chapter that brought me here. For the lessons, the laughter, the love, the unexpected turns, and the people who've stood beside me through it all," Lohan wrote in her post. She hinted at a tumultuous period in her past, including years in the early 2000s marked by hard partying and multiple arrests. "This next decade feels different. More grounded. More intentional. More joyful," she added, indicating a desire for a more deliberate approach to the years ahead.

Lohan, who is now married to Bader Shammas and resides in Dubai with their son, has seen a resurgence in her career. She recently starred in two Christmas films and is set to appear in a Freaky Friday sequel, as well as the upcoming movie "Count My Lies" with Shailene Woodley.

Reflecting on her personal growth, Lohan shared that she believes "your 30s are [when] things start clicking." She advised those entering the decade to embrace it as their own and to focus on setting up their future, cautioning against societal pressures regarding age and accomplishment. For Lohan, the period between ages 35 and 40 served as a significant "wake-up call moment" as she neared her next milestone birthday.

Over the past decade, Lohan emphasized the importance of appreciating time, stating, "That time is precious, and sometimes we forget time goes by so quickly that we should really enjoy every moment to its fullest." She also credited her husband with teaching her the value of preparedness to avoid disappointment, a lesson she has integrated into her outlook. "You are your own vessel. If you don't nurture yourself, anything can distract you in a second. Anything can take a turn," she noted.
