Singer Lily Allen has opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Jonah Freud, describing herself as "high maintenance" and in need of significant validation. Allen, 41, has been dating Freud, 29, the son of entrepreneur Matthew Freud, for at least eight months. The couple has been observed together on various dates and holidays since they were first seen together in December.
This romance marks Allen's first significant relationship following her four-year marriage to actor David Harbour. Allen recently completed a tour for her acclaimed album "West End Girl," which was inspired by her marriage and subsequent divorce from Harbour. She told Perfect Magazine that her current life stage is "drama-free," attributing this to no longer engaging in heavy drinking and focusing on her stage performances.
Allen admitted to needing substantial reassurance in relationships, stating, "I’m high maintenance in a relationship. I’m like 'Do you love me?' 'Are you gonna leave me?' 'I’m ugly, aren’t I?' I need a lot of validation."
However, she contrasted this by calling herself low maintenance in other aspects, noting, "I pay for all my own sh*t. I do like to go to expensive restaurants but I never would ever expect anyone else to pay for it." She added, "All of the finer things in life, I provide for myself."
Allen also recounted an incident involving her boyfriend and pornography. She explained that while attempting a prank involving Pornhub, her search history later showed the site when her boyfriend asked her to Google something, a situation she found difficult to explain believably.
Allen is currently touring "West End Girl" across Europe and the U.S., featuring updated costumes and set designs for the show, which she presents as a play rather than a musical performance.
Her ex-husband, David Harbour, recently commented on Allen's album "West End Girl," calling it "weird." The album, which details her breakup with Harbour, is described by Allen as a mixture of fact and fiction, though Harbour stated that "It wasn’t my experience."
