Singer Lily Allen has responded to fans who expressed dissatisfaction with her "West End Girl" tour, stating they felt "ripped off." The criticism surfaced on X, where one fan detailed their experience at a recent performance at The O2.
The fan's post highlighted several points of contention: the absence of a support act, Allen's late arrival at 9:10 p.m., the show concluding by 10 p.m., a lack of audience interaction, and the cost of their ticket.
Allen addressed the criticism directly on X, refuting some of the claims. She stated that a support act was present and that the show was advertised as "Lily Allen performs West End Girl." She explained a slight delay in her appearance was due to a wardrobe issue, needing to change a "laddered" pair of tights.
Regarding the show's duration, Allen clarified that the performance is intentionally just over an hour long because it features her album "West End Girl" in its entirety. She described the decision not to engage with the audience as an "artistic choice," explaining that maintaining the "fourth wall" aids in storytelling and that she finds it effective. "I don’t want anyone to feel ripped off," Allen wrote. "Everyone on this tour is really working very hard to give people the best show we possibly can, and I’m extremely proud of it."
Following Allen's response, the fan clarified their position, stating that the performance itself was "brilliant." However, they maintained that charging a high price for approximately one hour of performance, particularly on a Sunday night, felt unwarranted.
Allen's "West End Girl" tour is based on her fifth studio album of the same name, which was released on October 24, 2025. The album, with a total run time of 45 minutes, includes songs that address Allen's split from David Harbour in February 2025, with some lyrics accusing him of infidelity. Harbour, in turn, responded to these allegations in June by stating, "Stories are complex."
The "West End Girl" album has garnered significant attention since its release, partly due to its personal subject matter. The tour's concept, as advertised, is for Allen to perform the album track-by-track in the order it appears on the record. Allen's performances at The O2 in London took place on Saturday and Sunday, with another scheduled for Tuesday, July 7.
