Lewis Capaldi will headline the inaugural Roundhay Festival in Leeds, performing at Roundhay Park on 4 July 2026, organisers announced. The Scottish singer is the first act confirmed for the new summer event, which has been launched in collaboration with Leeds City Council and AEG Presents UK.
Capaldi, 28, has achieved six UK number-one singles, including "Before You Go," "Pointless" and "Wish You the Best," and both of his studio albums have reached the top of the UK albums chart. He is also one of the headline acts announced for British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park, organised by the same team, and is scheduled to perform in London on 11 July.
Leeds City Council said the festival is intended to raise the city's national and international profile and provide a boost to the local economy. Jim King, chief executive of AEG Presents UK and European Festivals, described Capaldi as "fast becoming a legend for a new generation," saying the appearance would be "the true comeback that everyone has been waiting for." Capaldi paused full-time touring after his Glastonbury performance in 2023 and returned to the Somerset festival earlier this year for a short set on the Pyramid Stage.
Councillors last month approved arrangements to allow crowds of up to 69,999 to attend events at Roundhay Park, which lies about three miles north of Leeds city centre. The park covers more than 700 acres (around 280 hectares) and is believed to be one of the largest city parks in Europe. The last time it hosted a concert with a comparable crowd was when Ed Sheeran played in 2019, when capacity was temporarily increased to about 80,000.
Organisers of the Leeds festival are the same team behind BST Hyde Park in London, a series that has previously hosted major international artists. The council said the new event would attract high-profile performers and underpin wider cultural and economic benefits for the region. Further line-up details and ticketing information have not yet been released by promoters.
