Singer Lewis Capaldi brought a young fan, Mason, onto the stage during his headline performance at BST Hyde Park over the weekend. Mason, who held up a sign asking for a selfie and stating it was his first ever show, was invited up by Capaldi. "I love watching your songs," the young fan told the singer, who handed him the microphone to greet the crowd before they posed for a photograph.
Capaldi, 29, headlined two nights at the London festival. During his set, he became emotional reflecting on his health, stating he "wasn't sure if it would be possible" for him to perform again following his Tourette's diagnosis. He took time off in the past to focus on his mental health and adjust to the impact of his diagnosis after an emotional set at Glastonbury festival in 2023. He expressed that being able to perform again was "really special" to him.
Earlier in the evening, Capaldi had lightheartedly asked fans to stay until the end of his set, joking that they might leave to watch England play in a World Cup quarter-final match. "Let's not get into it. I'm Scottish, most of you guys are English. Can't we all live in peace and harmony? It's coming home," he quipped, before thanking the audience for their presence.
Capaldi was also reportedly seen spending £2,000 on drinks for England fans at a Mayfair pub after the team's victory over Mexico in a recent match.
