EastEnders actress Letitia Dean recently showcased her transformed physique at the National Television Awards (NTAs) while celebrating with her co-stars Jacqueline Jossa and Kellie Bright.
Dean, 58, who has publicly discussed her journey of dropping four dress sizes, opted for an off-the-shoulder black minidress and complementary shiny black heels for the event. She joined her colleagues to mark the occasion, sharing photos from the night on Instagram, including moments with Jossa, Bright, Kitty Castledine, and former EastEnders actor James Farrar.
A Health-Conscious Transformation
Dean's notable weight loss, reported as two stone from 10st 4lb to 8st 3lb, was achieved over the past year through a dedicated focus on health and well-being, which included eliminating junk food. She has spoken about her past struggles with fad diets, such as Atkins or relying solely on eggs, noting that while she could lose weight quickly, it was unsustainable.
"The main reason I wanted to do something about my figure was that I was so sick of extreme dieting and my weight yo-yoing," Dean stated in a 2007 interview with Closer magazine. "I just woke up one morning, and I'd had enough. For years and years - as long as I can remember - my weight had yo-yoed up and down."
Now, Dean adheres to a balanced diet, consuming around 1,300 calories daily, and incorporates exercises like running and boxercise into her routine. Her dietary changes include meals such as grilled skinless chicken and ample greens. This approach contrasts with her earlier experiences, where she noted having significantly more energy after cutting out junk food.
For context, the NHS generally recommends a daily calorie intake of approximately 2,000 calories for women and 2,500 for men.
Addressing Misuse of Endorsement
In 2024, Dean was compelled to address the fraudulent use of her image by online scammers promoting weight loss pills. Reports indicated that advertisements on Facebook falsely claimed Dean's endorsement of "B+ Weight Management" slimming pills, with fake interviews suggesting she lost five stone in two weeks. A source close to Dean confirmed that she had not given permission for her image to be used by any weight loss brand, emphasizing that the products had no connection to her and urging consumers to verify endorsements before purchasing.
Dean has played the role of Sharon Watts in the BBC soap opera EastEnders since 1985.
