Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Pacino were photographed dining together at Madeo in Hollywood on Thursday night, renewing a friendship that has kept the pair in frequent contact since they co-starred in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.
Photographs from the evening show the two actors in good spirits as they left the restaurant and walked together toward the same car. DiCaprio, 50, dressed casually in an all-black ensemble and a cap, while Pacino, 85, wore a grey suit jacket with a black polo and trousers and carried a set of tangled earphones in his hand.
After the meal, images show DiCaprio seated in the passenger seat and Pacino in the rear, continuing their conversation as they prepared to depart. At one point DiCaprio appeared animated, gesturing with his hands while lowering his head and speaking to Pacino through the rear-view mirror.
The two actors first worked together on Tarantino’s period piece, in which DiCaprio played TV star Rick Dalton and Pacino portrayed Marvin Schwarzs. DiCaprio previously described the opportunity to appear alongside Pacino as a “historical and unforgettable” moment in his career. Since the film’s release, the men have been photographed together on multiple occasions, including a pre-Christmas lunch last December that also included DiCaprio’s father, George DiCaprio.
Pacino, a Harlem-born actor who trained at The Actors Studio and remains co-president there, has continued to balance a busy professional and personal life. He became a father again in 2023 with the birth of his fourth child, Roman Alfallah. Speaking about fatherhood in his 80s, Pacino said, “It’s always the same. It’s always the same. It’s a mini miracle. That’s all I can say. It’s just so wonderful to have children.”
Across a career that began in the late 1960s, Pacino has won an Academy Award, two Tony Awards and two Emmy Awards, leaving him one Grammy short of EGOT status.
DiCaprio, who has remained a prominent presence on the festival and awards circuit, was accompanied earlier this week by girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti at the world premiere of his new film, One Battle After Another. The couple arrived separately on the red carpet; DiCaprio wore a fitted black suit and a white shirt, while Ceretti attended in an elegant white draped gown.
The dinner at Madeo is the latest public sign of the continuing camaraderie between two generations of leading screen actors who have maintained a friendship off camera since their work together in 2019.
