LEGO has unveiled a new Death Star set that the company describes as one of its largest Star Wars models to date, featuring 9,023 pieces and a price tag of £899.99.
The Death Star Ultimate Collector Series, inspired by scenes from Star Wars: A New Hope through Return of the Jedi, will be available for customers with early access on Oct. 1 and go on general sale on Oct. 4 through the LEGO website. The model is designed to let builders recreate multiple iconic moments from the original trilogy in a single, layered display.
LEGO said the set's design uses a compact foundation and a vertically layered structure to provide depth while remaining suitable for storage and display. The model includes detailed brick recreations of multiple Death Star locations, such as the trash compactor, Emperor Palpatine’s throne room, Princess Leia’s cell, the tractor beam control unit and the Imperial shuttle hangar.
The release comes with 38 LEGO Star Wars figures, including multiple variants of central characters. The roster includes Luke Skywalker in both Jedi and stormtrooper disguises, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine among others. LEGO framed the package as an Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) product, a line typically aimed at adult fans and collectors seeking large-scale, display-oriented models.
The company has positioned the set as both a detailed build and a display piece, emphasizing scene-to-scene playability and photographic presentation. LEGO has released large Star Wars sets in the past that appeal to collectors, and this Death Star follows that trend by combining numerous distinct interior scenes into a single modular structure.
Early access pricing is set at £899.99 on the LEGO website, with general availability starting Oct. 4. LEGO did not announce additional regional pricing or a wider retail rollout in its initial presentation. The company has marketed the set to fans who want a comprehensive recreation of the original trilogy’s most famous Imperial installation, consolidating multiple memorable moments into one collection.
Collectors and fans planning to purchase the set will likely have the opportunity to examine release details and images online ahead of the public sale, and the October dates mark when direct ordering through LEGO becomes possible. The Death Star Ultimate Collector Series adds to LEGO’s ongoing partnership with the Star Wars franchise and continues the maker’s focus on high-piece-count, display-oriented products for the adult collector market.
