The ongoing dispute between radio hosts Dan Le Batard and Craig Carton escalated this week after Carton referred to Le Batard as a “woke scumbag… with no talent” during his WFAN show.
Le Batard, in turn, addressed Carton’s remarks on his own program, accepting the “woke” and “no talent” labels as subjective but pushing back on “scumbag.” Le Batard referenced Carton's past legal troubles, stating, “Scumbag, though, from the guy who spent more than a year in prison and lied to his family, employers, and listeners, scumbag’s a little far. But if you get up, look in the mirror, and see one of those, you’ve got a special kind of expertise in this area that I do not have.”
The animosity between the two personalities has persisted for years, with Le Batard having previously criticized Carton's professional dealings, particularly following Carton's return to radio after a prison sentence. Le Batard has repeatedly referred to Carton as “the man who went to jail” on his show. Carton, in turn, characterized Le Batard as an “untalented hack” and a “self-appointed moral compass of America.” Carton also suggested that Le Batard would not have received a promotion after his prison stint if he were not white.
Carton currently works with FanDuel, focusing on problem gambling awareness. Le Batard co-founded Meadowlark Media with former ESPN President John Skipper.
