Layla Taylor, a star of the Hulu reality series "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," announced on Monday that she is bisexual. The 25-year-old shared her announcement on Jay Shetty's "On Purpose" podcast, stating, "I’m gay and I’m bi and date women and men."
Taylor disclosed that she is currently in communication with a woman who initially expressed interest by liking one of her Instagram photos. While she did not reveal the woman's identity, Taylor described her as "emotionally aware" and "very patient," noting that her new romantic interest has been understanding as Taylor navigates this experience.
"It's just something that I honestly didn't really know how to formally address for a long period of my life," Taylor explained regarding her decision to come out. She stated that she had previously "underplayed" her sexuality but is now ready to "show every part of Layla to the world." Taylor expressed pride in being out, saying, "I’m very proud now to be out."
Taylor reflected on past experiences, recalling moments when she questioned her feelings, such as watching shows where she found female romantic pairings to be "hot." She attributed some of this uncertainty to a lack of queer representation during her formative years, stating that while she didn't feel external pressure to suppress her sexuality, she lacked role models who openly lived that identity.
The reality star also revealed that she had not come out to her "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" castmates prior to the podcast episode airing. She plans to speak with them in person about her announcement.
Taylor was previously married to Clayton Wessell, and they co-parent their two sons, Oliver and Maxwell. Since their 2023 separation, Taylor has publicly dated Cameron Jolly and Mason McWhorter, with these relationships featured on the show.
