LaVar Ball, the founder of the Big Baller Brand and father of NBA players Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, has announced that his marriage of 30 years to Tina Ball has ended. Ball shared the news in a recent interview with podcaster N3on, confirming that his wife had decided to "go her own way."
"Even with my wife. Tina decided to go her own way. That’s why you don’t see her right here," Ball said during the interview. "She wanted to go do something else, that’s fine with me. We had our run. We had our run."
Ball, 58, indicated that his perspective on his wife has shifted following her stroke in February 2017. "So, even though she had the stroke, and [is] getting older, she would never be like, ‘Oh, man.’ She was always beautiful in my eyes, until you want to go do something else. Now you not as beautiful to me again," he stated. "If you decide to go this way, I’m gonna go that way. That’s fine. It is what it is, man."
He also revealed that he has found a new romantic interest. "Any time you can find somebody you can stay in love with for a really long time… if you can witness that love, that’s good. I had that with her. And I found somebody else, but it is what it is," Ball explained. When pressed about the identity of this new person, Ball cryptically responded, "It’s somebody who’s working for me."
LaVar and Tina Ball were married in 1997 and are parents to three sons: Lonzo, LaMelo, and Li’Angelo. Lonzo and LaMelo have established NBA careers, while Li’Angelo has pursued a career in music after an earlier basketball stint.
This personal development comes as LaMelo Ball was recently traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. LaVar Ball himself has navigated personal health challenges in recent years, including the amputation of part of his right leg in 2025, after which he began using a prosthetic.
