Laura Wright, who has portrayed Carly Spencer on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital" since 2005, has signed a new contract to continue her role.
Wright announced the news on X, formerly Twitter, stating, "I’m not going anywhere ❤️❤️ just signed a new contract !!! ✨✨" This assures fans that her character will remain in Port Charles.
Fans have expressed their dedication to Wright's portrayal of Carly, with some indicating they would stop watching the show if she were to leave. Wright's continued presence addresses these concerns.
Wright has a long history in daytime television. She began her career on "Loving" as Ally Rescott and later appeared on its spin-off, "The City." Following those roles, she joined "Guiding Light" as Cassie Layne, remaining with the show until 2005.
In "General Hospital," Carly Spencer is known as a protective mother and has had a complex relationship with Sonny Corinthos, played by Maurice Benard. The character has also been involved in significant storylines, including those related to Sonny's father's battle with Alzheimer's disease and a period where Carly and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) married believing Sonny was dead.
Wright's performance as Carly earned her a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2011. With her new contract, the character's storylines in Port Charles are set to continue.
