Las Vegas has long drawn travelers, but one female solo traveler says the city is the best destination for holidaying alone. Carly Caramanna, who has visited Las Vegas for 15 years, told Business Insider that the city's dining scene is 'incredible' and that she often sits at bar tops to chat with other patrons and to meet chefs and bartenders.
She said she always felt safe dining solo in Las Vegas but uses precautions like not leaving her drink unattended. Usually, she would avoid bars completely when alone, but makes an exception for fun, themed bars because of the 'lively atmospheres'.
Carly notes that Las Vegas has a wide range of gorgeous accommodations, including Virgin Hotels Las Vegas as one of her top spots to stay. When touring alone, she tends to splurge on expensive places because it helps her feel more comfortable.
During the day, she enjoys time by the pool, but avoids day clubs that can be loud and crowded. She has a knack for finding hidden gems and local favorites and says there is always something new to discover in Las Vegas, a factor that keeps her returning.
However, the city has seen a decline in tourism as broader economic and policy factors affect travel. Some point to rising costs tied to tariffs and trade policies as contributing factors to higher travel costs for visitors.
Steve Hill, president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, told KTNV Las Vegas that some international decisions have caused a drop in tourism. He noted that international visitation is flat, while Canada, a major international source market, has seen a drop of more than 20 percent.
The city remains a magnet for travelers, including solo visitors, even as tourism patterns shift amid global costs and policy changes.
