Las Vegas is being touted as the best destination for holidaying alone by a female traveler who has visited the city for 15 years. Carly Caramanna, a travel writer, described Las Vegas as welcoming for solo travelers in a piece published by Business Insider.

Caramanna said the dining options in Las Vegas are incredible and that she often sits at bar tops to chat with other diners, meet chefs and bartenders. She said she has always felt safe dining solo in Las Vegas, though she takes standard precautions, such as not leaving a drink unattended. She normally avoids bars when traveling alone, but makes an exception for themed bars because of the lively atmospheres.

Caramanna highlighted Las Vegas’ range of accommodations, describing the city as offering many high-end options. She named Virgin Hotels Las Vegas as one of her top picks and explained that traveling alone often prompts her to splurge on pricier properties to feel more comfortable. During the day, she enjoys pool time but avoids daytime clubs when she is by herself.

Even with frequent visits, Caramanna says there is always something new to discover in Las Vegas. She describes finding hidden gems and local favorites as one of the city’s biggest appeals, and says the constant new experiences keep her coming back.

Yet the city has recently seen a downturn in tourist numbers. Some observers point to broader cost pressures and policy shifts affecting travel costs. Steve Hill, president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, told KTNV Las Vegas that international visitation has been flat but Canada, a major source, has dropped by more than 20 percent. He attributed part of the decline to broader policy changes around international relations and travel costs.

Despite the dip, Las Vegas remains a magnet for travelers, including solo visitors who find the city’s dining, entertainment and hospitality a compelling reason to return.
