Larry David is set to return to HBO with his new historical comedy series, "Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness," premiering Friday, June 26, on HBO and HBO Max. The show, written and executive produced by David and co-creator Jeff Schaffer, is produced by Higher Ground Productions, the company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama.

The series consists of seven episodes, with the season finale scheduled for August 7. The first episode will air from 9:00 to 9:33 p.m. ET on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max at 9:00 p.m. ET. Encore presentations are slated for 9:34 p.m. and 11:08 p.m. ET on the same day.

The logline for the series suggests a comedic exploration of history, stating, "Those who don’t know history… are doomed to watch Larry David repeat it." The synopsis for the first episode indicates historical vignettes, with "Robert Livingston takes a first pass at the Declaration of Independence" and "Rosa Parks settles in for an uncomfortable bus ride."

"Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness" is an HBO original, exclusively available on HBO and HBO Max. Subscription options for HBO Max include a plan with ads for $10.99 per month or an ad-free subscription for $18.49 per month. Discounted bundles that include HBO Max with Disney+ and Hulu are also available. HBO Max can be added to Amazon Prime Video accounts for an additional monthly fee.
