Season 2 of Celebrations with Lacey Chabert moves from streaming to Hallmark’s cable network this fall, with episodes available the next day on Hallmark+. The unscripted series, which pairs Chabert with party planners Lisa Friedman and Marissa Lainer, returns to honor people making measurable contributions to communities in and around Los Angeles by staging personalized surprise celebrations.
The season-opener centers on Helen Alonzo Hurtado, the social enterprise director of Las Fotos Project, a downtown Los Angeles organization that empowers teenage girls through photography and mentorship. Each episode of the series features a honoree nominated by someone who can speak to their impact; in this case Helen is nominated by Alanna, the project’s community engagement manager, who helps set the surprise in motion.
Chabert and the planning team meet Las Fotos staff roughly 50 hours before the event to gather stories and plan an evening that recognizes Helen’s work and personal life. The planners settle on a vintage theme for an outdoor rooftop party that also celebrates Helen’s engagement to Javier. Creative collaborators on the episode include Angel City FC, the Los Angeles professional women’s soccer team, which contributed images of players holding photographs of the couple for a commemorative photo album.
Production of the surprise proceeds under a ruse: Helen is told she is being interviewed for a documentary on mentoring young artists. The deception allows the team to record authentic reactions when Helen arrives at the event. Weather forced a one-day postponement, raising concerns that Helen’s father, flown in from Kansas as part of the surprise, might not be able to attend. Organizers said he was able to rearrange plans and the reunion took place as intended.
At the party, Chabert presented Helen and Javier with the photo album and Hallmark Channel donated $10,000 to Las Fotos Project. A three-month follow-up segment concludes the episode, with Chabert and Helen reviewing how the donation has been used and discussing wedding plans.
The format of fast-turnaround makeovers and emotional reveals draws comparisons to long-running reality formats such as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and more recent lifestyle series that spotlight community and fan experiences. Season 2 also reflects a broader programming push by Hallmark into unscripted fare; Variety reported the sophomore season of Celebrations will join Finding Mr. Christmas, hosted by Jonathan Bennett, in the network’s Monday-night lineup.
Reviewers have described the series as lighthearted and ultimately focused on the subjects it spotlights, noting that the appeal rests less on spectacle and more on the people being honored and the tangible benefits delivered to local organizations. The episode featuring Las Fotos Project highlights the program’s stated goal of increasing diversity and accessibility for women in Los Angeles’ creative economy and the effect of mentorship on young artists.
Season 2 continues to emphasize personal narratives and community impact while maintaining the show’s blend of design, surprise and charitable giving. Episodes will air on Hallmark, with next-day streaming on Hallmark+.
