Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall revealed that a publisher's query about her social media following on platforms like TikTok almost deterred her from writing a memoir. Tunstall, known for her hit song "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," stated that such a question made her feel "sick."
"Why are people on TikTok the yardstick of whether you should write a book or not?" Tunstall questioned in an interview with Scottish Woman magazine. She added that while she values her privacy, she is reconsidering the memoir project because "there’s a lot of really funny, enlightening storytelling around the journey of where I’ve got to."
Tunstall, 50, who is preparing for the 20th anniversary of her debut album "Eye to the Telescope," felt this year was an opportune time to document her career. She achieved mainstream success after a 2004 performance on the BBC music show "Later... with Jools Holland."
Beyond her solo career, Tunstall also composed the soundtrack for the musical "Clueless." She noted that her formal musical training, including a BA in drama and music from Royal Holloway, University of London, proved valuable in her work for the stage production, allowing her to read scores and arrange music for strings.
