Kristin Cavallari said a co-parenting dispute with ex-husband Jay Cutler has made decisions about their children’s phone use “complicated,” telling listeners on her "Let’s Be Honest" podcast that she disagrees with her younger two children having cellphones.

The reality television alum, who shares three children with the former NFL quarterback, said she had hoped to wait until her younger two — Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9 — turned 12 before allowing them phones, as she did with their eldest, Camden, 13. "I honestly don’t agree with my younger two getting phones," Cavallari said during the episode, adding that she found them to be "zombies" on their devices in the mornings.

Cavallari said she had not purchased phones for Jaxon and Saylor, and that fact made enforcing a phone ban more difficult. "I can control what I can control," she said, noting that parental controls on phones were helpful. She did not name Cutler on the podcast, but said the situation was "slightly more complicated" and described co-parenting as a "bumpy road."

The exes finalized their split in 2020. Tensions between them have surfaced publicly several times since, including a December 2024 interview in which Cavallari called Cutler a "pathological liar" and criticized his consistency as a parent. In response to recent remarks by Cavallari about their divorce settlement, Cutler said on his "Take It Outside" podcast that her comments were "borderline slander" and disputed her claim that she received "a penny" from him.

"I’ve got a divorce decree. I’ve got something that’s signed by the judge — it’s like, 67 pages — it says the number breakdown," Cutler said on his podcast, adding that the amount he paid was "definitely not zero." Cavallari declined to comment when approached by a paparazzo for TMZ about the issue. Cutler’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Cavallari, 38, has been public about managing boundaries for her children and balancing parental responsibilities. She emphasized on the podcast that she controls what she can in the parenting dynamic and relies on tools such as parental controls to monitor phone use. She also said she wanted to follow the same age threshold she set for Camden when considering phones for her younger children.

The dispute over phones comes amid other developments in the co-parenting arrangement: Cutler, 42, is engaged to Samantha Robertson, though the couple’s relationship has not been directly linked by either parent to the phone disagreement. The exes have continued to make periodic public statements about their split and financial settlement, contributing to a prolonged, sometimes contentious, public conversation around their post-divorce parenting.

Cavallari’s remarks on the podcast represent the latest public account of the couple’s attempts to negotiate parenting decisions after separation. She did not offer additional detail about how the phone situation might be resolved or whether mediation or legal steps would be sought to address the disagreement.
