Makeup artist Simone Siegl drew inspiration from Kristen Bell's attire for the recent Emmy Awards, translating the romanticism of Botticelli into a dewy, bronzed complexion, neutral eyes, and a rose-tinted lip.
'My inspiration always begins with the dress,' Siegl told the Daily Mail. 'The moment I saw it, Botticelli came to mind – the romance, softness, and ethereal femininity. I wanted the beauty to have a bohemian spirit while still feeling chic and elevated.'
Bell, who stars as Joanne in Netflix's 'Nobody Wants This,' was nominated as an executive producer in the outstanding comedy series category. Siegl aimed for a makeup look that was 'fresh, luminous, and refined: glowing bronzed skin, softly defined eyes, and a rosy lip. Romantic and effortless, with a modern red-carpet finish.'
To achieve the look, Siegl began with L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Serum Le Duo ($37), applying it to freshly cleansed skin to provide a light layer of moisture and smooth the surface. This was followed by L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Midnight Cream ($37) to lock in hydration and ensure dry areas remained smooth for foundation application. The cream provided a subtle, dewy glow before makeup.
A touch of radiance was added with L'Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion ($18) on Bell's T-zone. Siegl explained that this liquid catches the light, creating a glow that appears to emanate from beneath the makeup.
For an even complexion, Siegl used L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Fresh Wear Cushion Foundation in Neutral 50. 'It's super lightweight and makes the skin look flawless,' she stated. Concealer was applied sparingly, with L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Full Coverage Concealer in shade 355 dabbed under Bell's eyes to address darkness without compromising the overall luminous finish.
The Botticelli-inspired warmth was achieved with L'Oreal Paris Lumi Bronze Le Stick Soleil in shade 110 ($13). Siegl applied it across Bell's forehead, nose, and jawline, extending it below the cheeks to provide an even wash of bronze and restore definition.
To control shine without eliminating the dewy finish, L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blur-Fection Loose Setting Powder in Translucent Light 20 ($16) was lightly dusted on the T-zone, softening the skin while preserving the glow on the cheeks.
Blush was applied using L'Oreal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Blush in W 5-6 ($15), layered with L'Oreal Multi-Use Tinted Balm in 02 to restore a rosy, light-catching sheen to the cheeks.
L'Oreal Paris Extensionist Mascara in Blackest Black ($16) was applied in multiple coats to lengthen and define Bell's lashes, making her eyes stand out. The look was completed with L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Original Satin Lipstick in shade 601 ($13), described by Siegl as 'the perfect shade of rose,' which added color and a soft sheen to her lips.
Finally, L'Oreal Paris Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray ($14) was misted over the entire face to set the makeup, ensuring it resisted sweat and smudging while maintaining the desired luminous finish.
